Newsweek Editor in Chief Jon Meacham writes a well-informed article, entitled "The End of Christian America," in this week's issue of the magazine: http://www.newsweek.com/id/192583.
(You're gonna have to copy and paste the link yourself.)

The article, in print, is about five pages in length.
Meacham's story addresses the state of American Christianity, relative to today's political culture.
With Easter Sunday approaching, and the Vermont Legislature's recent decision to legalize gay marriage, Meacham's timing is divine.
In his article, Meacham writes, "American public life is neither wholly secular nor wholly religious but an ever-fluid mix of the two."
This statement, for the most part, summarizes Meacham's views on politics and religion.
In 2006 I purchased the American Gospel, a book written by Meacham, in which he expounds upon these views -- the book remains one of my favorites to this day.

Meacham, as you may or may not recall, hosted CNN's Compassion Forum, alongside the lovely Campbell Brown, during the 2008 presidential primaries.

Meacham is a practicing Christian.
He's also a member of the Leadership Council of Harvard Divinity School and the National Advisory Group of Washington National Cathedral.
Sounds like an interesting book. Thanks Trev.
ReplyDeleteGood article. Did you ever think we'd be living in a world like this?
ReplyDeleteGyna, no problemo.
ReplyDeleteRon, thank you. And did I ever think we'd be living in a world like this? Absolutely not (lol).
