Cliff Louis at Westhill High School Class of 2009 Graduation

Throughout yesterday afternoon and parts of the evening, I had the privilege of visiting my old high school, Westhill High School, to participate in this year's graduation ceremony. To think, it's only been six years and four days since I sat in the same seats those seniors did!

I graduated from high school on June 19, 2003.

Anyway, last year, I founded the school's alumni association, along with the help of school administrators (fat shout to Ms. Obas!) and other alums. Still, this posting is about this year's keynote speaker, Cliff Louis. A former high school varsity basketball teammate of mine, Cliff is a person who I would describe as outstanding. In my dealings with him, I have always known him to be a humble, funny, and likeable guy. He's godfearing, he knows how to crack a good joke, and he affirms the value of each person with whom he comes into contact.

Upon graduating from Westhill High School in 2002, Cliff attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md., where he also played for the school's football team. At Morgan State, Cliff was an exemplary student-athlete, excelling on the field and in the classroom. After finishing college, Cliff signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent. This year, he was signed to play for the New York Giants.
